With registration for the Fall 2022 academic year in full swing, we thought we would take a moment to introduce a new member of the CFE’s team. As the Academic Programs Specialist, Maizie is responsible for undergraduate course outreach and advising, as well as coordinating curricular offerings. Maizie’s passion for higher education stems from her past roles as a student organization leader, and she is so excited to practice her passion through serving and advising ENTR undergraduate students.

So before you reach out to Maizie to find out more about ENTR undergraduate courses, take a minute to learn a bit more about her. So let’s get to it.

Where were you born?

Born and raised in Ann Arbor, this is where I have always felt “at home.”

What’s something unique about you that most people wouldn’t guess?

I cannot leave the house without making the bed, it just doesn’t feel right!

What do you like about student services?

I love building relationships with students, empowering them, and seeing them grow!

What are your hobbies?

Crafting DIY projects, practicing yoga, baking desserts, spending time outside, and traveling around Michigan.

Where is your favorite place to travel in Michigan?

Definitely Mackinac Island, I love stepping off the ferry boat to the smell of fudge and pitter patter of horses! Last time I visited I did a sunrise kayak tour with my fiancé, and it was incredible!

What do you wish students knew about Entrepreneurship at U-M?

I wish students knew how applicable an “entrepreneurial mindset” is to ALL aspects  of life. Taking ENTR courses at U-M will help you think like an entrepreneur. You will gain a way of thinking that allows you to overcome challenges, be decisive, and accept responsibility for the outcomes, which is necessary for professional and personal growth.

Do you have pets?

Yes, I am a new pet mom! I recently got my Shih-Tzu, Rosie, she is absolutely spoiled!

If you had the opportunity to take an ENTR course, which one would you choose?

Hmm… If I had the chance, I would love to participate in our Finding Your Venture (ENTR 410/599.410) course to practice thinking like an entrepreneur and identifying viable, attractive business opportunities!

What song have you been listening to on repeat lately?

“Cold Heart” by Elton John and Dua Lipa!

What is your favorite quote or saying?

“Your circumstance doesn’t define you,” and it reminds me to never restrict my dreams or goals because of circumstantial situations.

Thanks again to Maizie for taking the time to chat. If you have any questions about ENTR’s Fall 2022 courses, or want to learn more about other opportunities, feel free to visit the Students page!
