Volker Sick, an Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, Mechanical Engineering, heads the Global CO2 Initiative at the University of Michigan. This program focuses on reducing atmospheric CO2 levels by transforming CO2 into commercially successful products using technology assessment, development, and commercialization. He’s played key roles in establishing initiatives like Mcity for autonomous vehicles, and the MTRAC Hub for Advanced Transportation. And he even created the International Engineering Summer School in partnership with the Technical University of Berlin. What’s more impressive is that he’s still actively coordinating this program today. So yeah, Volker is basically a rockstar professor who’s dedicated to spreading knowledge and creating opportunities for students and making waves with his ingenious research on automotive powertrains and his incredible efforts to save our planet.
