Meet Tina Wu Chao, a student whose entrepreneurial journey is rooted in curiosity, creativity, and a deep sense of mission. With a minor in entrepreneurship and a passion for bringing ideas to life, Tina has fully immersed herself in learning what it means to think and act like an entrepreneur.

A Path Fueled by Curiosity

Tina dove into entrepreneurship the moment she discovered the Center for Entrepreneurship. “I am minoring in entrepreneurship and have been taking entrepreneurship classes, so when I saw that the CFE could give me more information on how to get involved, I signed up immediately!” she shared.

Her coursework demonstrates a commitment to establishing a solid foundation in entrepreneurial thinking and innovation. Tina has taken:

Each class has helped shape her mindset and sharpen her problem-solving skills, fueling her vision of creating a meaningful impact.

Defining the Entrepreneurial Mindset

For Tina, entrepreneurship is far more than building businesses; it’s a way of seeing the world. “I think an entrepreneurial mindset is a mindset that can think fluidly, connecting dots and lines where there were no lines, and being willing to create paths where there are not currently paths. It is to be willing to create and try something new, and to embrace the opportunity for failure and rejection.”

Her view captures the essence of innovation: courage, creativity, resilience, and the drive to forge new ways forward.

Inspired by Impact

One of Tina’s most memorable experiences was joining the Innovation for Urban Impact Trek in Detroit. “It was encouraging, because change requires much determination and perseverance.”

Seeing entrepreneurs working to uplift their communities reinforced her belief that entrepreneurship is a tool for transformation, not just profit.

Purpose-Driven Innovation

Tina’s entrepreneurial vision goes far beyond personal success. She is passionate about industrial product design and has discovered how her skills can honor her faith and serve a greater mission.

“I’m excited to get involved with industrial product design now that I’ve finally realized that I can use what the Lord has given me for the Lord.”

She hopes to:

  • Invent and improve technology to support missionary and ministry efforts worldwide
  • Build impact-focused ventures
  • One day, create a business similar to Arise Collective Theatre, making music, producing shows, and sharing them globally

Tina’s dreams reflect a rare blend of creativity, compassion, and a profound sense of purpose.

Advice to Fellow Students

Tina encourages others to explore widely and take bold steps: “There are so many different opportunities, so look to get involved!”

Her journey is a reminder that entrepreneurship isn’t just about ideas — it’s about pursuing passion, embracing uncertainty, and building with intention.

Tina Wu Chao is proof that entrepreneurship can be a powerful force for good, and with vision, faith, and determination, students can build innovations that change lives far beyond campus.
