Dewaki Dhimal’s journey into entrepreneurship is a testament to the power of exploration and the pursuit of continuous growth. With a background in nursing and years of experience in the healthcare industry, Dewaki’s path seemed set in stone. Yet, the allure of entrepreneurship beckoned, offering a world of possibilities beyond the confines of traditional career paths.

“As a healthcare professional, I realized that I don’t have business skills,” Dewaki shares candidly. “Pursuing the Graduate Certificate in Innovation & Entrepreneurship from the Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) was my way of bridging this gap.” It was a leap of faith, a goal to explore to see if she could carve out a niche in the dynamic world of entrepreneurship.

Discovering the CFE was a pivotal moment for Dewaki. “I was searching for a certificate course in innovation & entrepreneurship and found that the University of Michigan had one of the top 10 entrepreneurship programs in the US,” she explains. Through diligent research, Dewaki unearthed a wealth of opportunities awaiting her at the intersection of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Currently immersed in the Graduate Certification in Innovation & Entrepreneurship program at CFE, Dewaki’s journey is one of discovery and growth. “These courses are stimulating my thinking, helping me understand common barriers faced by entrepreneurs, providing ideas about business models, and sharing real-life insights from other entrepreneurs,” she reflects.

From classroom discussions to hands-on activities, Dewaki is constantly honing her entrepreneurial mindset, preparing herself for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. “As I progress through the program, I’m excited to see how my perspective evolves and how I can apply my newfound knowledge to real-world situations,” she shares eagerly.

Looking ahead, Dewaki envisions a future where she combines her healthcare expertise with entrepreneurial endeavors. “I look forward to graduating with an MHSA degree and a Graduate Certificate in Innovation & Entrepreneurship,” she shares. “After that, I plan to pursue a full-time position in the healthcare industry while exploring new ideas for entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial ventures.”

For undergraduate students embarking on their own entrepreneurial journey, Dewaki offers invaluable advice. “Engage with CFE and utilize its resources actively,” she urges. “A background in innovation & entrepreneurship can act as a strong value differentiator while competing for jobs and accelerating career progression.” She emphasizes the wealth of opportunities available in the US for aspiring entrepreneurs, encouraging students to seize the chance to create value and wealth, regardless of their background.
