This is the second in a three-part series by CFE to celebrate the University of Michigan’s No. 3 ranking by the Princeton Review in undergraduate entrepreneurial education. The Center for Entrepreneurship is proud to be a part of the many world-class programs across campus that have helped elevate U-M over such a rapid time period.

Since the beginning of the College of Engineering’s Center for Entrepreneurship in 2007, U-M students have had endless resources, classes, and the opportunity to study under some of the greatest entrepreneurs in the state, and beyond. With some of the most innovative faculty in the nation, CFE has been able to achieve a No. 3 ranking by the Princeton Review in undergraduate entrepreneurial education.

Beyond our courses being hailed as some of the greatest for up-and-coming entrepreneurs and student ventures,  our faculty is full of highly-experienced innovators, who bring their experience and excitement to the classroom. Below, meet some of our faculty who are changing the face, and the future, of entrepreneurial education:

Matt Gibson is the Director of Educational Programs at CFE, and is passionate about helping students achieve success through the practical application of entrepreneurship. With a background in engineering, business, and education, Matt aims to create meaningful experiential learning opportunities for his students.

Prior to joining the Center for Entrepreneurship, Gibson served as the VP of Research and Development at pharmaceutical delivery startup- Iontera. In addition, he was a technical advisor at Ropes & Gray, LLP, where he managed the strategic development and prosecution of intellectual property related to a wide range of medical device and telecommunication technologies for both startups and large corporations. While in graduate school, Matt launched an early stage company with a novel technology for transdermal delivery of macromolecular drugs.

“I  work with thousands of entrepreneurial students at the University of Michigan, and lead our educational programs at the Center for Entrepreneurship with a strong emphasis on developing experiential learning opportunities. It’s not traditional classroom academics. It’s about leveraging our resources to design meaningful experiences that allow our students to take action on their ideas. I love running on the leading edge of this largely uncharted territory of entrepreneurship education. We are still at the early stages with so much to learn in how to best support our entrepreneurship students. It is a privilege develop meaningful new resources, courses, programs, and initiatives to improve and expand our entrepreneurial ecosystem.” -Matt Gibson, 2016
