Pathways to Impact

The common misconception of translational research is that your technology is ready for funding after the ideation phase. In reality, it is the start of a very complex path on the road to commercialization. The Pathways to impact is an invitation-only workshop offered to faculty researchers, PhDs, Postdocs and graduate students.

Typically these teams have participated in one of the Center for Entrepreneurship regional or national I-Corps programs; however, teams will be admitted if their technology has significant commercial potential, have a working knowledge of product-market fit and a willingness to continue to commercialize their technology.

The CFE is offering a half-day workshop that will run every other week for teams who are looking for continued support in moving their technology forward. The end goal of this program is to get these teams funded, out of the concept-hardening phase and into the risk reduction phase.

Components of this workshop:

  • Building a compelling presentation
  • Completing your business model
  • Evaluating cost and competitive analysis
  • Ecosystem mapping
  • Milestone development
  • Project management
  • Selecting and preparing for translational funding
  • How to leverage trade shows
