More than 45 students spent a full day making professional connections while exploring local startup ventures and innovative companies within the Ann Arbor area on Wednesday, April 4, as part of the Center for Entrepreneurship’s inaugural Ann Arbor Trek.

In collaboration with Ann Arbor Spark, the day-long trek hosted students from U-M Ann Arbor and U-M Flint and included both undergraduate and graduate students.

Students from Art and Design, Business, Computer Science, Engineering (Aero, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil & Environmental, Industrial & Operations, Mechanical), Finance, Health, Information, Marketing, Mathematics, Organizational Studies, Pharmacy and Public Policy were represented in the trek, making this one of CFE’s most diverse student-programs.

Throughout the day, students visited Ann Arbor startups to learn about internship opportunities, company history/founding and received advice from company founders.

Company visits included:

The Ann Arbor Trek aspires to showcase tech and innovation in the Ann Arbor entrepreneurial ecosystem to current U-M students. CFE anticipates this pilot morphing into a larger (200+ person) fall event for interested students at all 3 campuses (U-M Ann Arbor, U-M Flint and U-M Dearborn).

The Ann Arbor Trek is one of three discovery treks put on by the Center for Entrepreneurship. Other discovery treks include Grand Rapids and Detroit. To learn more about CFE’s treks, visit cfe.umich.edu/treks.
