Experts Rick Gordon and Dave Zvenyach will take the stage at the Microsoft Innovation Center in Washington D.C. on February 28th as the keynote speakers for CFE’s reception event:  Cybersecurity, The Public Sector, and Tech in 2017

Both graduating with undergraduate degrees in engineering, Gordon and Zvenyach took different paths– Gordon serving in the Navy, then attending the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business for his MBA and Zvenyach attending The George Washington University Law School.

After serving as an Officer in the Navy and receiving his MBA, Rick transitioned from associate to CEO to Director to COO, and the list goes on. Working for various startups and technology companies, Gordon has most recently found himself as a Managing Partner for the MACH37 Cyber Accelerator, an Advisor for AlphaTech Group, and a Member of the Board of Advisors for the United States Naval Academy Center for Cyber Security Studies. As a board member, Gordon is working to enhance naval education in all areas of cyber warfare to enhance more interdisciplinary research and harmonize efforts and shape a common framework for cyber warfare related efforts within the Navy.

Post-law school, Dave Zvenyach took a political route, clerking for a Pennsylvania judge and serving as the Chief of Staff for Councilmember Mary Cheh. Since 2015, Zvenyach has worked for the General Services Administration (GSA), working his way from Director of Acquisitions to the Executive Director of 18F to his current role as GSA’s Deputy Commissioner. Dave currently works for the GSA’s Technology Transformation Services in D.C., where he aims to deliver the best value in real estate, acquisition, and technology services to governmental entities and the American people.

This event is a part of the Center for Entrepreneurship’s first ever Northeast Entrepreneurship Trek (NEXT). Thirty of Michigan’s best and brightest student entrepreneurs will be traveling to Washington D.C. and New York City over Spring Break, exploring innovation on the East Coast. The trek includes stops at alumni startups, working spaces, and even the NYU Entrepreneurship Festival. Students will explore booming East Coast ventures, such as Greenhouse, WorkBench, Endeavor, and Verizon Ventures.
