TechArb Summer Session 2012
Bay Area Mentors – $10K Grant Funding – Entrepreneurial Community – Amazing Space
May 1 – Oct 31st | Ann Arbor
This summer, TechArb is offering two distinct tracks: TechArb Ideas and TechArb Ventures.
- TechArb Ideas is for student entrepreneurs who are committed to working throughout the summer to explore the commercial feasibility of their idea. Teams (no individuals) will focus on customer discovery, prototyping, experimentation, and talent recruitment. Each week, teams will meet for an all-hands meeting at TechArb to cover topics such as interviewing, ideation, rapid prototyping, and pitching. In addition, each month, teams will meet with TechArb mentors to review progress and receive feedback. We are also planning various trips to entrepreneurship conferences. You should apply to TechArb Ideas if you simply have an idea without a defined product or service.
- TechArb Ventures is for student entrepreneurs who have a clear understanding of their customers (and their pains), a prototype of their product/service (at a minimum), and are committed to working the entire summer, full-time, on launching their venture. Teams in TechArb Ventures will gain access to an exclusive set of Bay Area mentors, be eligible to apply for $10K of grant funding, and be introduced to various angel and VC networks. Teams will also be expected to attend weekly all-hands meetings (though different material will be covered) and meet with TechArb mentors on a regular basis. Teams that receive grant funding will be expected to meet weekly with TechArb staff.
At the end of the six month session, student teams will make presentations and product demos to investors and enterpreneurs at the student venture showcase.
